Ski-In / Wine-Out: An Exclusive Tour of the Coolest Slopes and Hottest Wines in Chile

The Ski-In Wine-Out trip, an Upscape exclusive, combines breathtaking descents at the best ski destinations in the Chilean Andes with personally guided tastings of top notch, innovative wines led by your host, Derek Mossman, the founder of MOVI (Movement for Independent Vitners), leading boutique wine producer of Garage Wine Co., and former Portillo ski instructor. You will stay in the chic, intimate settings of small hotels, lodges and haciendas, and sample the finest Chilean cuisine from home-cooked classics to avant-garde dining. You’ll go Cat skiing at Ski Arpa, attend private tours of outstanding wineries both established and off the beaten track, peek into the world of Chilean craft beer, and ride a train through the dramatic landscapes of one of the most geographically diverse countries on the planet.

 

Day 01

ARRIVE | in Santiago + settle in to Hotel Magnolia

EXPLORE | Maipo Valley, Chile’s second oldest winegrowing region

TASTE | a slice of Norwegian culture at Odjfell Winery

MEET | Derek Mossman, an original founder of MOVI, as he takes you through a private dinner + pairing experience

Day 02

BREATHE | in the fresh air and stunning backdrop of the Andes

SHRED | the exclusive slopes of La Parva, Chile

Day 03

RISE | to an altitude of 3,670 m / 12,040 ft where Valle Nevado offers the largest skiable domain in Chile

Day 04

TRAVEL | down the mountains, across Santiago and into coastal Casablanca Valley

SIP | cool-climate, artisan-style reds in Casablanca Valley, a coastal region traditionally known for its white wines

SOAK | up the sun-drenched, colorful streets and bohemian cafes of Valparaíso, a UNESCO World Heritage site

ELEVATE | the day with a ascensor (funicular) ride or two and a restful night perched above the city lights

Day 05

STROLL | the winding seaside paths of Zapallar, where the Pacific Ocean presents a dramatic coast and crystal clear waters
